A few weeks ago, I accompanied my cousin during his visit to the doctor who was only 23, and visited the doctor with a headache complaint. The doctor revealed that he is suffering from high blood pressure and referred him to the best heart specialist in Lahore who then investigated and gave him the treatment plan for the management of high blood pressure.

How to Keep Your Heart Healthy?

High blood pressure is one of the many aspects that affect your heart function. There is a lot you can do to keep your heart healthy and young for a longer period of time. Here are some of the tips that can help you to keep your heart healthy:

1- Exercise

There are several ways to keep your heart healthy and young, including proper nutrition and exercise. But for heart health, physical activity certainly remains an important aspect of heart health. In fact, research has shown that people who exercise are less likely to develop heart disease.

Different types of exercises that promote heart health include stretching, aerobics, and strength training. The best way to get started is to find an activity that you enjoy. You can find exercise buddies to work out with, join an exercise group, or try a new sport. If you are unsure of the best type of exercise for you, consult your doctor. You may want to start with a short introductory exercise program. But suffering from an existing condition may require you to consult your physician.

2- Work on weight management

Keeping your heart healthy doesn’t have to be hard. A little bit of exercise and a dash of restraint goes a long way in the long term. For a healthy heart, you need to keep your weight in a normal range because excessive body weight is linked to an increase in the risk of heart conditions. There are several pieces of research proving that obesity works as an important risk factor for heart conditions. For weight management, you can work on your nutrition and workout choices or can simply consult your physician.

4- Choose foods wisely

Your food choices play a key role in keeping you and your heart healthy. The inclusion of certain foods in your diet may keep your heart healthy for a longer period of time. So, make sure to choose the foods that support your heart health. For better heart health, it is recommended to go for whole grain foods as these are a great way to keep your heart healthy and young. Other than this, fiber-rich foods are also considered to be good for health.

Other than this, try to limit your intake of saturated fats as it increases the risk of heart disease. This may be due to the effect of saturated fat on the body’s low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels. It is therefore important to limit your intake of this nutrient.

4- Keep your numbers in check

One of the best ways to keep your heart healthy is to get regular blood pressure and blood sugar checks. These checks can help you detect early signs of trouble before they have a chance to turn into problems. By taking the time to identify and treat early warning signs of cardiovascular problems, you can avoid heart-related complications.

5- Control stress level

Stress also tends to wreak havoc on your mental health but this is one of the major contributors to poor health. Stress is linked with the onset of heart conditions thus increasing your chances of suffering from cardiac problems. Yes, that’s why it is important to control your stress levels. You can work on your stress management on your own or can seek out help from health experts to help you overcome your stress levels.
