Fable: Ranking All Games In The Series

by Zohaib Khan

The main RPG games in the Fable series have spawned a lot of interesting spin-offs, but which games are the best to date?

The world of Fable is a strange fantasy world with a lot of style and flair. After more than 20 years of Fable games, the series is ready to go back in time and start over with Fable 4. Since there is no set date for the game’s release, now is the best time to look at the best Fable games.

Since 2004, there have been many different Fable games. Fable quickly became one of the best RPGs despite not being part of a bigger series. This famous action-RPG series has changed in style and gameplay over the years.

Fable Coin Golf

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out where series like Fable will go to try to make something new. Since Albion is based on the old United Kingdom, Fable has always liked to include stories from that country. Coin Golf is just one of the British pub games that were used in the show.

It was a strange choice to make it a fantasy game for Windows phones. Players have to get their figure, Puck, into the “Pillar of Light” in as few shots as possible to get rid of the evil in the world. Most fans liked that they could use the gold they won in Fable 2 in Fable 3.

Fable Heroes

The creators made another interesting choice by making a beat-em-up set in the Fable world. The hack-and-slash style of this adventure was meant to make the Fable series more family-friendly. Players could pick one of their favorite Fable characters and go into fight with them.

When the game came out in 2012, there was also the choice for up to four people to play together over Xbox Live. The hero doll figures and the way the game was played were also a big change for the series’ art style.

Fable 2 Pub Games

There was extra material in Fable 2 that was based on old British pub games. The pub games collection was a game for Xbox Live Arcade. It had games like Keystone, Fortune’s Tower, and Spinnerbox. When a player went back to their Fable 2 game, they could use all the gold they had won during the game.

Even though this was a unique idea in 2008, and players could unlock different concept art as they played. The idea of playing for in-game money in a different game didn’t catch on in a big way.

Fable Fortune

The most current game in the Fable series, Fable Fortune, is another example of how the series has tried to change its style. This is a free collectible card game that takes place in the Fable Universe. When it came out in 2018, it gave players a new way to connect with the Fable world.

Fable Fortune was a fun card game that got a certain amount of attention. Even though people didn’t always like it. After fans didn’t show much interest in the game in mid-2020, backing for the game was cut off.

Fable 3

In the third major game in the Fable series, the world of Albion moved so far ahead in time that it looked more like Britain in the 19th century than it had in the previous games. Even though it was a risky choice, fans loved Slope Game and story, in which the player tried to get rid of their brother, who was the king of Albion.

After completing their quest, players had to protect Albion from a big bad. A great take on the series. But most fans don’t like it as much as the other main games. Fable 3 was the first step in the series going downhill.

Fable: The Journey

It seems strange to put a Kinect-only game ahead of one of the main games in the series. But The Journey surprised me with how fun and involved it was. Fable: The Journey was one of the best Kinect games for the Xbox 360. It let players form spells by moving their hands in certain rhythms.

Even though The Journey, like almost all Kinect games, had problems and reviewers complained about its limitations. The strong story, which at times was really heartbreaking, made up for these flaws.

Fable

The original Fable game has already been added to and re-released. Now, it will be re-started from the beginning. Even though it came out in 2004, it is still one of the best RPGs ever made. The great moral system in The Hero of Oakvale’s story and the beautiful design of Albion were both great things that helped Fable become famous.

Fable told a classic story of loss that leads to the rise of a hero. The story was classic and classy. The bad guy’s story in Jack of Blades and the hero’s sacrifices to finally bring him down are all told in a beautiful way. Fable also led many games to use a morality system and a darker tone for a game.

Fable 2

It’s hard for a totally new game to get everything just right, and Fable wanted to do so many things that had never been done before in games that it was always going to be hard to get the systems just right. But even though all of these things were changed and made better in the sequel. What really surprised me was how much better the story and setting were.

Albion was moved five hundred years into the future, which made the world feel more like the 16th century. The larger world and more side tasks, as well as the fact that players could build their own property empires, made the game much better. Fable 2 was a trip like no other at the time. It took place over the hero’s whole life, and no one has been able to do it again.
