284 The 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to generate $4.9 billion in revenue for Qatar, according to a report from Ernst & Young. The country has already spent more than $100 billion on infrastructure projects in preparation for the tournament. Qatar’s government has also announced plans to invest $3 billion in new stadiums, which will be made available for other major sporting events and concerts, as well as cultural activities.
