by Uneeb Khan

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to generate $4.9 billion in revenue for Qatar, according to a report from Ernst & Young. The country has already spent more than $100 billion on infrastructure projects in preparation for the tournament.

Qatar’s government has also announced plans to invest $3 billion in new stadiums, which will be made available for other major sporting events and concerts, as well as cultural activities.

The report projected that the 2022 World Cup will generate about $6.7 billion in ticket sales, with about half of those sales coming from international visitors and the rest coming from locals who are expected to travel to Qatar during the event.

The report also expects an additional $1.5 billion in revenue from broadcasting rights deals around the world, including pay-per-view events and video streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

FIFA said it also expects to earn about $500 million from media rights during the tournament and another $300 million from commercial activities such as retail sales and stadium rentals.
