About Corbett Park

Jim Corbett Park is the first national park in India and also the oldest. Jim Corbett was a hunter who turned naturalist and wrote books on tigers in India. The Corbett National Park houses several wild animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, panthers, deer and boars along with birds such as peacocks, parakeets and hornbills. Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the north-western state of Uttarakhand. The core area, which covers 520 square kilometres and includes the Jim Corbett Park Jungle Safari, and the buffer area, which covers 308 square kilometres and includes reserve forests as well as the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary.

Entry Gates

The Corbett Park which was established in 1936 is the oldest and the largest national park in India, spread over an area of 700 sq km and having a large number of species. It has five entry gates namely Kalagarh/Kot block gate, Dhangarhi gate, Lohaghat gate, Dhikala gate, and Durgadevi gate.
