Itinerary

Day 1- 

Have to drive from Srinagar to Aru and overnight stay at Aru

Aru is about 12 km away from Pahalgam and sharing a cab from Srinagar will land you there as the place is quite popular. There are two different routes which will lead to Aru- one through Anantnag and other to the Bijbehara.

Day 2- Trek from Aru to Lidderwat

The trek begins with the long climb of the village of Aru to Lidderwat which is about 10 km away. The trail snakes along to the cool ladder river. A few minutes later, people will see the beautiful area of Aru behind them. Soon the trail enters the amazing forests of fir and it opens out to Dalla clearing. People can also do camping for a night.

Day 3- Trek from Lidderwat to Shekwas

Day 4: Shekwas to Tarsar Lake Trek

Day 5- Trek from Tarsar to Sundarsar

Day 6: Trek to Homwas from Marsar Lake

Soon the path will open to the grassy patches and past a few beautiful brooks. The lake will look similar to the Tarsar lake, lined up by the beautiful mountains on the side. From Marsar, people can go back to  Sundarsar campsite. After this the trail will head towards Zachmargi valley, which lands at the Homwas campsite.

Day 7- Trek from Homwas to Aru, Drive to Srinagar

After having breakfast, people should take the same route which they had taken in the beginning of the trek via Liddervat. It will take around 2 hours from Homwas to Liddervat to Aru. From here, people can go to Srinagar which is an hour drive away.

Distance- 13 km trek

Suitable time to do the Tarsar Marsar trek

The most suitable time to do the Tarsar Marsar trek is from the beginning of July to the beginning of September. This is the traditional monsoon in the rest of the Indian subcontinent but not in the Kashmir valley.

Difficulty level of Tarsar Marsar trek

Tarsar Marsar trek which has an altitude of about 13,201 feet is not so difficult. The level of this trek is moderate and that too because the trekking days are long.
