The skills you need to get in to Merger and Acquisition

by Uneeb Khan

Recently I had the privilege to address the students of Lincoln High School in Lake City, Minnesota about accounting careers. I’ve enjoyed speaking the students from my time in elementary school when I was teaching models of rocketry. Students wanted to know what they needed to know for success in the field of accounting. I explained that abilities in communication, organizational skills, time management, as well as technological skills are crucial to working as an accountant for public companies.

Communication

Of course, it’s essential to know accounting to become an effective accountant, but due to a variety of reasons, it’s just essential to communicate effectively both either in writing or verbally. Effective communication skills enable accountants to communicate complicated concepts and tax details to clients and team members in an easy and understandable manner.

It is essential to engage with customers professionally. Keep eye contact, comprehend the client’s perspective and m&a advisory give them believable responses. be pleasant, show confidence and clearly explain your solution. When you talk to your client you should ask them questions. The answers you receive will enable you to probe further and suggest solutions to their issues which will allow you to recommend and offer useful solutions.

Communication can also include keyboarding and computers (the process of writing and using on a keyboard) abilities. This includes typing in data Word processing, writing emails, editing and creating spreadsheets, and performing tax preparation. This is the primary technique I have learned to prepare me for a job within public accounting. I utilized this knowledge to create this blog and I use keyboarding every day during my work. The speed at which I type and accurately allows me to complete my job quickly and efficiently.

Organization and Time Management

Accounting professionals take on many responsibilities that means I am always very busy. This is where organizational and time management are essential and valuable both are essential to be a successful accountant. Implementing a system to keep the track of deadlines, important dates and transactions keeps me on in the right direction. Tools such as organizational applications as well as planners, calendars, and many more tools are extremely useful. A good time management skill goes with excellent organizational skills. A system to manage your work load is only efficient when you know how to plan lean management your time. It is crucial to learn how to meet deadlines and continuously revise your list of tasks. By doing this, I can ensure that my day is productive and to manage multiple priorities.

Technology

Because of technological advancements Public accounting is expected drastically change within the coming five to 10 years. The technology advancements encompass AI, artificial intelligence (AI) as well as Blockchain. Public accounting companies are investing millions of dollars in software and training to acquire the latest skills required in order to provide services to companies and customers.

AI is the concept and design of computers that can perform tasks that typically require human brains like visual perception speech recognition, decision-making, as well as translation between different languages. AI also opens the doors to a different kind of accountant. The modern accountant can do much more than just crunch numbers. In the near future, AI might do most of the math.

In contrast, accounting professionals are shifting toward a model that offers added value opportunities for clients such as strategies and advisory services.

Blockchain could improve the accounting industry through reducing the expense of reconciling and maintaining ledgers while providing total assurance about the ownership and the history of assets. The advantages from Blockchain technologies include the reduction of the chance of errors and efficiency, as well as reducing costs, reducing fraud and also reducing the time.

In Reflection

Meeting with the students of this high school was amazing! I enjoyed the interactions with them because they were well-prepared with the ability to ask questions as well as provide feedback. It was great to observe that there were so many students who were curious about what they could do to acquire the knowledge and skills for a job as an accountant to be prepared for a career in the field.
