What are Biological fungicides and how does it work

by Uneeb Khan

These beneficial microorganisms degrade pathogens in a variety of ways, including antibiotic production, competition, parasitization of harmful organisms, and induction of systemic or localized resistance in the targeted plant.

To achieve the control effect, biological fungicides primarily use the special disease prevention and growth-promoting function of certain special microorganisms or microorganism metabolites. Its active ingredients are all present and derived from natural ecosystems.

Its most notable feature is that it decomposes quickly when exposed to sunlight, plants, or soil microorganisms. It is a method of material circulation that originates in nature and belongs to nature. These microorganisms are naturally found in soil, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic fungicides.

How do Bio fungicides work?

1: Induces plant resistance

Plants have self-defense mechanisms. Some pathogens cause disease by avoiding triggering these defenses or by striking the plant before it has a chance to activate these defenses. Some bio fungicides work by activating plants’ defense mechanisms. This is referred to as inducing plant resistance. It is considered the sole mode of action of the bacteria.

2: Antibiosis

Antibiosis occurs when a bio control agent produces a chemical compound, such as an antibiotic or a toxin that kills or harms the target organism. Antibiotics and toxins are produced by a wide range of microorganisms. Some of the more common antibiotics used by humans to treat infections originated in common soil-dwelling fungi and bacteria. Antibiosis can be accompanied by other harmful mechanisms in some cases. Antibiosis is one of the most effective methods of microorganism control.

3: Kill pathogens

The bio fungicides strain actively infects and feed on plant pathogens due to hyper-parasitism. It inhibits their presence and activity on and around the host plant. The biological fungicide strain physically attracts, digests, and consumes plant pathogens through predation, effectively disabling or eradicating them from the host plant environment.

After it has infected the roots, predation by the bio fungi side will not affect the harmful pathogen if introduced.

4: Inducing metabolic changes

The ability of bio control microorganisms to induce metabolic changes in plants that increase resistance to a wide range of plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria is an important mechanism. Systematic acquired resistance improves plant response to pathogen attack by priming plant defense compound production. This ability of induced resistance to avoid a variety of diseases appears to be widespread in a variety of plants.

And the existence is systematic because disease resistance occurs at locations remote from the bio control microorganisms.

You must know when to use bio fungicides. For protecting the plant, you need to use bio fungicides in the garden before any disease develops as bio fungicides will not cure an already infected plant. Make sure to apply it at an early stage to protect the root against attacking fungi and encourage vigorous development of root hairs.
