What is a Max IV Pokemon?

by Junaid Awan

Individual Values, also known as IVs, are a hidden stat boost that every Pokemon is born with. They range from zero to 31 and can affect a Pokemon’s potential in battles.

They’re a lot harder to raise than EVs, but they’re important to know when training a competitive Pokemon. If you want to make your team the strongest, you’ll need to spend some time grinding IVs.

HP

A max IV Pokemon is one with the highest possible combination of HP, Attack, Defense and Speed stats. This is a key metric when it comes to deciding whether to keep, evolve or power up your favorite Pokemon.

A Pokemon’s IVs are unique, and cannot be changed by Hyper Training or other means. However, there are ways to check if a Pokemon’s IVs are high enough at a glance.

For a Pokemon’s HP IV, all of its Attack, Defense, Speed and Special IVs are added together. The number is rounded off to the nearest integer by the game, then multiplied by 63.

Unlike other stats, the number of IVs per stat can be more than 252. This means that a Pokemon with a HP IV of 510 can have a total of 510 EVs in all six stats.

As a result, if a Pokemon has a high IV in any stat, it may be able to max out its CP much faster than one with a low IV. This is especially true if you’re looking to battle in a competitive environment.

Attack

Attack is the number of damage points a Pokemon deals to its opponent. It is a stat that can be affected by IVs, and it has a very important role in competitive battling.

A max IV Pokemon is a Pokemon that has the highest possible IVs for the attack stat. They are very rare and difficult to get, but they can be worth it in certain situations.

In addition to attack, a pokemon go evolution calculator can have other stats affected by IVs, such as defense and stamina. These stats are also very important in determining how well a Pokemon does in competitive battling.

For example, if a Pokemon has high base HP but low special defense, a good IV in stamina will make it a lot more powerful than one that does not have this stat. On the other hand, if a Pokemon has high base attack but low base defense, a good IV in attack will not make it as powerful as one that does have this stat.

It’s also worth noting that a perfect IV in attack will increase the damage output of a Pokemon by around 10%, which is quite impressive. However, this difference is not always noticeable in the long run and it’s not worth the effort to get one just for that reason.

Defense

A max IV Pokemon is a Pokemon that has the maximum possible stats for Attack, Defense, and Stamina. These stats range from 0 to 31 and are the “inherent values” of the Pokemon you’re breeding.

The IVs are derived from base stats and Nature, and they cannot be changed. However, Hyper Training and fighting Pokemon that naturally raise certain stat EVs can help you improve the IVs of your pokemon.

While the stats are the most important, the IVs are a lot of fun to play around with. In general, the higher a Pokemon’s Base Stats are, the less of an effect its IVs will have on its overall damage output in battle. This is because each of the six stats can only add a maximum of 45 (3 x 15) to their overall total.

Generally, it is best to spread out EVs across all of your pokemon’s stats, but sometimes it can be helpful to run a more unorthodox EV spread to deal with a particular threat or counter an opponent’s strategy. If a Pokemon has low physical defense and you’re playing against an attacker that will primarily be attacking your pokemon, it may be worth raising its physical defense IVs to give it the boost it needs.
