High-Intensity Discharge

Although they are pricey to buy and run, options like HPS High-Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide (MH) lights are great alternatives. A bulb known as a HID transmits electric charge through a tube full of gas. MH produces a blue wave light that encourages vegetative development but creates less flowering and is quite effective at making a lot of light.

Although plants will be less robust, the red or slightly orange color of HPS is a powerhouse for creating buds and blooms. Before switching to HPS lights to enhance flowering, MH lights are frequently employed to encourage leafy development.
