Dual lightsaber fighting is used by many Force users in the original Star Wars canon. It is also known as Jar’Kai. Dual lightsaber combat was first seen in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and since then, many canon characters have attempted to master this advanced skill.

They use different two-sword techniques depending on their experience, such as using other lightsabers, reversing the hilts of one or both swords, or using shorter blades (shoto) in their hands. Little is currently known about the origins of Zarqawi, but as canonical literature continues to expand, the art form will likely receive more attention shortly.

More about the Technology

This technology was first called “Jar’Kai” in the mobile game Star Wars: Galactic Defense. Wielding two lightsabers is a skill many Force users learn, but few truly master. Nevertheless, Jar’Kai is considered by most experts to be one of the best lightsaber fighters in the Star Wars franchise, and their commitment to this approach makes them formidable opponents.

Those who focus on lightsaber dueling spend much time learning the Jar’Kai technique. Because of this, the technology may have been used more commonly in the High Republic, where many Jedi and Sith roamed the galaxy. Many Force users have found a way to hold two lights and combine their favorite blades. 

Famous Dual Lightsabers

Ahsoka Tano is known for using the V-shaped Djem So, which holds an empty lamp in an inverted holder. In addition, Asajj Ventress found a way to use her Makashi form with two lightsabers influenced by her master, Count Dooku, due to her ability to use the form.

Star Wars writers continue exploring Jar’Kai combat mechanics as the canon expands. With the Disney+ Ahsoka series coming soon, there’s no doubt twin lightsaber fighting will be rampant. As the story progresses, you’ll learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of Jar’Kai’s combat abilities.
