How to Cope with Diarrhea with the Help of Diet

Foods to Avoid

  • Dairy Products: Milk and other dairy products such as cheese are some of the hardest foods to process when one is suffering from diarrhea, especially if the person is a lactose intolerant.
  • Fatty Foods: Foods that are greasy, fried, and fatty should not be taken as they can aggravate the condition of diarrhea.
  • Spicy Foods: Spicy food can cause the irritation of the digestive system and boost the frequency of bowel movements.
  • High-Fiber Foods: Although fiber is usually good, whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables that are taken raw can be difficult to digest especially when one is experiencing diarrhea.
  • Sugary Foods and Beverages: Some foods and beverages are sweet and these can cause water to be pulled into the intestines thus aggravating the condition of diarrhea.
