Ranking 10 Biggest Liars In Video Games

by Zohaib Khan

In video games, you can’t trust these lies at all.

When you play a game, you probably don’t want to deal with any kind of lie. It’s bad enough to get stuck in a part of a confusing game, but if a character is willing to lie to you, things can get even worse.

Some lies can sometimes be a little less dangerous. Their lies help build the world of the game or are an important part of the story as a whole. Video games have had some nasty little lies over the years, whether they were a big part of the story or just a joke.

ClapTrap

Everyone agrees that ClapTrap, the annoying robot who is always around in the Borderlands games, is a bit of a lie. It’s more about how the robot acts, and it doesn’t cause too many big problems, but it’s still something to keep in mind.

ClapTrap just thinks it is the best thing in the world and that everything else is just another simple minion that it can control. It’s too sure of itself and tells lies to everyone, which generally gets it into trouble and gives you a lot of experience in fights.

Ms. Kawakami

Ms. Kawakami from Persona 5 is an… interesting character. The story about the questionable friend shows your teacher in a new light, one in which she lies to you most of the time. Joker is nice, which is a good thing because she lies a lot.

At the end of the friend story, her lies about being sick and about her job do make sense, but some people have said that it does so in a clunky way. Even though she lied, you might end up trusting her and getting connected with her.

Colette Brunel

Colette is the chosen person in Tales of Symphonia. She has to go on a journey around the world to save it. Lloyd, the main hero, doesn’t know that Colette is aware of how scary it is that she turns into an angel.

Colette doesn’t want the other players to worry about her, so she lies about how bad her illness is the whole game. At one point, there’s even a popular scene where Lloyd uses a drink to get her to tell the truth.

Mama Cucco

In Hyrule Warriors, you can meet Mama Cucco, who is very scary. That might not sound scary to you, but if you know anything about the Cuccos from the main series, you know that the birds can be dangerous and cruel.

Mama Cucco is no different. If you don’t do the Cucco’s task right, the bird will attack you very violently. It is said that the bird will attack everything, but in fact, it will only come for you.

Adachi

Anyone who has played the great Persona 4 game knows that Adachi is a very nasty person. The police officer who seems nice turns out to be a twisted, bad guy who has been lying to everyone around him the whole game.

His lies are so big and frequent that when you play the game again, you’ll find that even small parts of his speech are big lies. Adachi may not be the worst person ever, but he is definitely one of the worst.

The Illusive Man

Illusive Man from Mass Effect is one of the most interesting and mysterious bad guys in sci-fi games. The head of Cerberus always seems to have goals that have secret reasons behind them. This means that everything he says or does could be a lie.

Throughout the game, he tells Shepard many lies. At one point, he even leads Shepard into a Collector trap. If you’re playing Paragon, though, you won’t have time to listen to the man’s lies, and you’ll finally show him who’s boss.

M’aiq The Liar

M’aiq The Liar is one of the best and most meme-able characters from the Elder Scrolls games. You can find the famous Khajiit in many games, and he or she will always be happy to tell you a few lies.

M’aiq’s lie about dragons in Morrowind is one of the best. He says that dragons do exist, but when they fly low to the ground, they become invisible so no one can see them. M’aiq loves this claim for some reason and says it over and over again throughout the series.

Trusty Patches

Trusty Patches in Dark Souls

Most people have already heard enough about Dark Souls, so adding a lie is just mean. Fair enough, you should have known that a guy named Trusty Patches would lie to you and turn on you.

Even though Patches says he won’t do any tricks, that quick kick in the butt into a dark pit sure feels like a trick, doesn’t it? At least in this case, the liar can get what’s coming to him when you take him on and pay him back for the kick.

Handsome Jack

Handsome Jack Borderlands

The whole time you play Borderlands 2, Handsome Jack lies to himself more than he lies to you. He makes the whole Basket Random game seem like he’s the hero and you’re the bad guy trying to stop him, which is obviously not the case.

Most heroes don’t trap their girls and use them for their own benefit. Still, Handsome Jack is sure that everything you do is for the bad side, while he works for the good side. This shows how self-centered he is.

Glados

It would be impossible to leave Glados out because almost everything she says to you in Portal is a lie in some way. Even when she’s not lying, it’s hard to tell if anything she says is true or not.

Her constant teasing and lying make all of her words useless, but she still says a lot of things that people will remember. She is an all-time favorite enemy because of how evil she is, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see her again in the future.
